Florida casino offering out-of-this-world experience

There are casino promotions and then there are casino promotions. The one that is currently being offered by the Seminole Coconut Creek Casino in Florida is a whopper of an offer and one that the management is quite proud of. The promotion will be run very simply and five players over the course of the next four months starting on Monday, May 26, 2008, can win a unique opportunity.

The winners will get a trip into outer space.

Players will need to be registered members of the casino’s players’ club. Those winners will then choose two different DVDs out of the twenty offered to determine what their prize will be. The casino will display the DVD’s contents and if a player picks two DVDs that match images from space, the winner wins a once in a lifetime opportunity to see Earth from space.

The Seminole Coconut Creek Casino will offer the contest up to four times over the summer in order to declare a winner. If no player matches the images by the end of the prescribed time period, all of the winners will be called back and have the chance to redraw with new wild cards thrown into the mix until a winner is declared.

Steve Bonner, general manager of the casino, has used a space promotion before at the casino to get his patrons excited. When the United States Navy shot down a rogue satellite, Bonner had a bull’s eye painting on the roof of the casino and then gave his patrons a chance to win a million dollar giveaway if any piece of the satellite debris hit the casino. When he was asked why he enjoys using space as a theme for the casino’s promotions, Bonner happily replied, “Because even the sky is not the limit at Seminole Coconut Creek Casino.”

The winner will be able to take their spaceflight prize as early as 2009. The casino will start a $200,000 trip giveaway as part of their annual “Million Dollar Giveaway” promotion. According to patron, John Lindstrom, a slot machine player, “I would rather win the space trip than a regular jackpot for $200,000. The money will come and go, but the space trip memories will be something nobody can take away from you. I think it’s a great idea.”

The trip is being managed by an outside travel agency who will book the flight on the winner’s behalf. If the winner decides not to go up into space, they can take a cash payout of $110,000 instead. The trip is valued at around $200,000 if the companies that are projecting commercial space passage come through within the next few years. If they do, one lucky casino patron is going up in space.
